Oct 06, 2011 (newstodate): Lithuania's Baltic Ground Services has won the tender for the long-term lease of Vilnius Airport's fuel facility with capacity of holding up to 4,000 cbm.
With this facility, Baltic Ground Services will be capable of providing jet fuel to the Lithuanian, Polish and Latvian aviation markets.
The facility will secure BGS' sustained supplies to its bases in Poland, including Warsaw, Krakow and Katowice, with future prospects for adding also Lodz, Rzeszow and Poznan.
Baltic Ground Services is licensed to provide ground handling and aircraft maintenance services in Vilnius and in major Polish airports in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclow, Gdansk, Poznan and Katowice.
In 2011, BGS has started providing ground services to Wizz Air, Aerosvit, Small Planet Poland, airBaltic and Norwegian Air Shuttle at Warsaw Airport, as well as fuel supply services at the airports in Krakow and Katowice.
Plans for expansion into the Lithuanian airports at Kaunas and Palanga and Riga, in Latvia, are also on the table.
