Oct 10, 2011 (newstodate): Air services between Russia and Georgia are back - but still on temporary permits.
The existing agreement on air charter services between the two countries is to expire by the end of this month, but flights will continue on a new agreement running till the end of this year.
The two countries have designated Georgian Airways and S7 to perform the daily services connecting Moscow and Tbilisi.
Flights are also performed between Moscow and Batumi as well as Moscow and Kutaisi.
Suspended since October, 2006, after the military conflict between Russia and Georgia, air traffic between Russia and Georgia was resumed from March 25, 2008, only to be halted soon after, but finally operating again from August 2010, albeit on short-term agreements only.
