Oct 25, 2011 (newstodate): Air Greenland has taken a 25 percent stake in the Icelandic carrier Norlandair, based at Reykjavik Airport.
The acquisition take the form of a transfer of the last remaining Twin Otter DHC-7 aircraft from Air Greenland to Norlandair that already operates three of these aircraft including two former Air Greenland Twin Otters.
Among Norlandair's activities are operations into Greenland's north-eastern regions that will now be supported also by Air Greenland.
The carrier's Greenlandic operations are mainly services to scientific expeditions in the arctic region where the DHC-7 aircraft can operate on temporary airstrips and in rough terrain.
