Jan 28, 2011 (newstodate): The Swedish Orebro Airport finished 2010 with an increase by about five percent, y-o-y, in total cargo volumes.
-A total of 25,000 tonnes of cargo was handled, and that brought Orebro Airport back on the growth track again, while we are still behind the annual 30,000 tonnes that was earlier the level, says Haakan Nilsson, Orebro Airport cargo manager.
-Except for a daily TNT freighter flight from Helsinki, Orebro Airport does not unfortunately have any regular freighter operators, but instead we are doing quite well as to ad-hoc charter operations with all types of aircraft including the AN-124 and IL-76.
-The growth in least year's volumes is mainly due to the extra traffic generated by military operations and many relief operations, and the trend of the flown cargo proportion overtaking the trucked cargo remains to consolidate itself.
-We are as always on the look-out for attracting a scheduled regular freighter operator to Orebro Airport, but it is admittedly a tough job, says Mr Nilsson.
