Jan 20, 2011 (newstodate): Moscow Vnukovo Airport saw a strong increase in its air cargo volumes in 2010.
A total of 34,900 tonnes of cargo was handled, an increase by no less than 40 percent, y-o-y.
Most of the cargo was transported on passenger aircraft, but freighter traffic was also on the rise, generated by Volga-Dnepr, AirBridgeCargo, Polet and other carriers.
The airport's cargo growth is also boosted by the new 17,500 sq m Rostovo Cargo Terminal, designed to handling of up to 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually, and capable of handling all types of cargo and mail, including general cargo, perishables, dangerous goods, and animals.
