Jan 10, 2011 (newstodate): Entering its 50th year of operations in 2011, the future of Slovenia's Adria Airways is in the balance.
The Slovenian state has now agreed to a bridge loan for the carrier to enable it to pay part of its debt, aiming at keeping the carrier in the air till a solution to its future ownership has been settled.
The solution must, however, be quick in coming for the state will evaluate by mid-year if the attempts to solve the crisis seems to be fruitful in the form of a take over, or merger, with another airline.
If not, Star Alliance-member Adria Airways will not be able to celebrate.
Adria Airways operates a fleet of 13 aircraft including 11 Bombardier CRJ and two Airbus A319 aircraft.
