Jan 14, 2011 (newstodate): Russia's Irkutsk Airport saw limited growth in air cargo volumes in 2010.
A total of 11,246 tonnes was handled at the airport - an increase by only four percent, y-o-y, in contrast to the growth in passenger volumes by 26 percent, to 1,078,787 passengers.
In 2010 the airport, with one 3,654 m runway, added flights to 15 new destinations, bringing the total to 53 including 15 international destinations.
Plans have long been underway to construct a new airport at Klyuchevaya, some 25 km from Irkutsk, replacing the current Irkutsk Airport that lies in the center of Irkutsk.
