Jan 05, 2011 (newstodate): The harsh winter conditions at the end of 2010 took its toll on air cargo volumes at Latvia's Riga Airport - but the year still ended with strong growth figures.
A total of 12,248 tonnes of cargo was handled at the airport, an increase by 29.9 percent, y-o-y.
Totals included 5.157 tonnes of of mail, up 19.9 percent, and 7.090 tonnes of cargo, increasing 39 percent over the year.
In December alone, volumes increased by 13.6 percent, y-o-y-, to a total of 1,216 tonnes.
December was, however, marked by a 35 percent growth in cargo, to 674 tonnes, while mail volumes dipped by 5.2 percent, y-o-y, to 542 tonnes.
