Jan 14, 2011 (newstodate): The Lithuanian carrier Aurela is on the way to financial security after a sale of shares in the airline.
-I can confirm that we have now reached agreement with a new investor, and technically speaking we are readying to take the next step which will entail the materialization of the agreement - the transfer of capital, says Antanas Simutis, Aurela sales manager.
-At the same time I can also confirm that we are indeed still in possession of our AOC. What has happened is that we have presented the Lithuanian Ministry of Transportation with a full overview of our financial situation to prove that we have no liabilities to passengers and no debts to state of private providers and that we have no current ticket sales activities.
-Based on this, the Ministry has issued us with a temporary operating license valid till July 7, 2011. Once we present a confirmed new investor to prove our long-term financial viability, the operating license will be turned into a permanent license again, and we are fully back to normal.
-I find it only natural for the Ministry to take the said action, seen on the background of the sad demises of other Lithuanian carriers flyLAL and Star1. In our case, the sheet is clean, says Mr Simutis.
