Jan 06, 2011 (newstodate): The Lithuanian charter airline and ACMI provider Aurela reports "business as usual" while confirming that negotiations are still going on to attract a new owner.
The carrier operates two Boeing 737-300 and two Hawker aircraft for charter operations and VIP services from the base at Vilnius Airport.
-Our prime objective remains to land long-term ACMI contracts with other operators which is the most attractive business case. These are, however, relatively hard to get at as ACMI contracts are more often tendered by airlines to solve temporary needs for extra capacity, says Antanas Simutis, Aurela charter sales manager.
-Last summer was extremely busy with full-charter operations for tour operators, but unfortunately there is no immanent logic to secure that one good summer will be followed by another at similar levels. We will have to wait and see how things develop as tour operators finalize their seasonal programs, says Mr Simutis.
By the end of 2010 it became known that Saulius Karosas, the owner of the carrier that was the country's first privately-owned airline, had decided to sell his stake, and this has forced Aurela to seek new investors.
