Jan 07, 2011 (newstodate): Germany's Parchim International Airport, with Chinese ownership, is to be developed further in 2011.
In the plans is the construction of a new ATC tower, and work will also commence on expanding the apron area.
The constuction works are slated to start this spring, and the entire project will cost around 30 mio euro.
On July 1, 2007, the airport was acquired by the Chinese logistics company LinkGlobal Logistics, owned by Jonathan Pang, that plans to turn the airport into a hub for Chinese freighter traffic.
The airport's cargo volumes have grown from 3,400 in 2008 and 2009, to about 8,000 tonnes in 2010.
