Jan 17, 2011 (newstodate): Official statistics for 2010 from Norway's Oslo Gardermoen Airport paint a bleak picture of cargo performance in 2010.
A total of 70,011 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled in 2010, a decline by 10 percent, y-o-y.
International cargo dropped six percent to 43,468 tonnes, while domestic cargo fell even more steeply by 15.8 percent to 26,543 tonnes.
December was especially hard hit with a decline by 36.8 percent, y-o-y, to 4,308 tonnes, including 3,793 tonnes of international cargo, down 10.1 percent, and 515 tonnes of domestic cargo that fell by 80.2 percent, y-o-y.
The statistics may be misleading, though, as the volumes by several carriers, including e.g. Thai International, are not included as is also not trucked cargo.
The airport has however not been able to come up with more reliable figures to improve the image of Norway's capital airport.
