This was somewhat above the latest 10-year annual average of 810 deaths.
15 of the 29 fatal accidents involved commercial passenger aircraft, including six cases involving airlines that are on the EU ban-list.
Five of the fatal accidents occurred during take-off operations, 10 at cruise levels, nine during descend, and five during landing procedures.
On the brighter side of statistics: today, January 4, is actually a day without any fatal airliner accidents ever!
