Jan 03, 2011 (newstodate): Cargo continued to build up at Denmark's Billund Airport during December, securing 2010 as a new year of record in cargo volumes.
In 2010 the airport handled a total of 61,568 tonnes of cargo, beating the earlier record from 2007 when 58,617 tonnes of cargo passed through the airport.
Through the year, imports increased by no less than 52.6 percent, y-o-y, to 33,648 tonnes, while exports also grew by 19.2 percent to 27,920 tonnes.
In December 2010, Billund Airport handled 4,809 tonnes, up 30.8 percent, including 2,363 tonnes of imports, up 15.5 percent, and 2,446 tonnes of exports, increasing 49.9 percent, y-o-y.
