Sep 01, 2010 (newstodate): The regional council of Vinnitsa, Ukraine, has decided to open a tender for management of Vinnitsa Gavryshivka International Airport.
The move is driven by the regional council's inability to finance the development and reconstruction of the airport from its own budgets.
The winner of the tender will undertake the completion of a new airport passenger terminal and other elements of the infrastructure.
The process is acute as the Polish carrier Jet Air plans to launch flights on a new route connecting Lodz, Poland, with Vinnitsa from October 15, 2010.
Vinnitsa Gavryshivka International Airport was granted international status in December 2008, having so far had only limited domestic air travel services.
