Sep 16, 2010 (newstodate): Tajikistans first private air carrier, Somon Air has named new top executives.
Installed as new general director is Alisher Hajdarovich Rustamov, formerly with Tajik Air, and Firuz Farhadovich Ishankulov, holding the position as general director during a three-month interim period, has been named assistant general director.
In the first eight months of this year, Somon Air has carrier 163,000 passengers, up 218 percent, y-o-y, as well as 360 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 177 percent.
Somon Air currently operates two wet-leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft on routes from Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to destinations in Russia, Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, and plans to take delivery of two Boeing 737-900ER aircraft during the first half of 2011, to become the carrier's first owned aircraft.
