Sep 30, 2010 (newstodate): The Swedish charter and ACMI provider TOR Air, based at Gothenburg, is seeing a sound development in the market.
TOR Air received its AOC in November 2008, performed its first commercial flight around Christmas the same year and has since been operating for various customers including Iraqi Airways until early summer 2010 when this customer folded its wings.
-Since then we have been operating for among others Norwegian in Sweden during the summer program that has now been terminated, says Torbjorn Winsell, TOR Air CEO.
-Our Boeing 737-400 aircraft is now to go for a three-week C-check at Sabena Technics' facility in the UK and will then operate various charter and ad-hoc flights during the winter season.
-TOR Air plans to take in its second aircraft in time for the start of next year's summer schedule, and we are currently considering various options including both Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The aircraft will then enter service with us in spring 2011.
-The ACMI market has developed positively over the last year. Many larger carriers are securing ACMI agreements for 2001 already now, and with the scarcity of aircraft in the market, rates are going up to the benefit of the ACMI providers, says Mr Winsell.
