Sep 02, 2010 (newstodate): Since its start of operations on August 27, 2009, Russian low-cost airline Avianova has seen traffic booming and its aircraft fleet expanding.
Starting out with two leased Airbus A320 aircraft, the carrier, headed by Andrew Pyne as CEO, now operates five Airbus aircraft, and will grow to seven aircraft before the end of this year.
Avianova plans to grow to 10-14 aircraft in the short term, but foresees a fleet of up to 50 aircraft within five years.
Avianova started out from Moscow Vnukovo Airport, but moved operations to Sheremetyevo Airport from March 28, 2010.
The carrier, Russia's second low-cost carrier, targets to reach 1.2 mio passenger in 2010, having now passed 0.9 mio passengers.
