Sep 20, 2010 (newstodate): The Armenian carrier Armavia was forced to delay several flights last week due to unpaid debts to Zvartnots International Airport.
The delays especially hit departures by Armabia for Israel and Russia, but in the meantime a solution was negoatiated between the two parties.
A scheme has thus reportedly been agreed upon, under which Armavia will pay up its debts within "a short period of time".
Until 2005 the carrier was owned 68 percent by the Russian carrier S7 Sibir Airlines, but the stake was then acquired by the Russian-Armenian businessman Mikhail Bagdasarov's investment company Mika Armenia Trading.
The country's capital airport, Zvartnots International Airport is owned by Corporation America, headed by the Armenian-Argentine businessman Eduardo Eurnekian.
