Sep 6, 2010 (newstodate): Airfreight continues its upward surge at Latvia's Riga Airport.
A total of 1,061 tonnes of cargo and mail was handled at Riga Airport in August, 2010, an increase by 47.2 percent, y-o-y.
Included in the total were 681 tonnes of cargo, up 72.4 percent, and 380 tonnes of mail, up 16.6 percent, y-o-y.
In August, import airfreight, cargo and mail included, outweighed exports, imports counting 615 tonnes, up 47.1 percent, and exports counting 446 tonnes, up 47.2 percent, y-o-y.
The Latvian carrier accounted for the lion's share of the total volumes, carrying 60 percent of the airfreight, or 635 tonnes, in and out of Riga Airport.
