Norwegian will launch its first long-haul operations in 2011, with destinations New York and Bangkok.
The carrier will eventually increase the long-haul program to include up to 15 destinations, with South America and Africa seen as "interesting" regions as well.
So far the airline has aired intentions of acquiring Airbus A330 or Boeing 765 aircraft to start its intercontinental traffic, with plans for shifting to either Boeing 787 or Airbus A350 further down the line.
