Sep 29, 2010 (newstodate): As the date for opening of the new low-cost pier at Copenhagen Airport - October 31, 2010 - is approaching, the airport is still seeing little interest from low-cost carriers to sign up for the new service.
Only easyJet has so far announced its decision to switch to the new pier that has been constructed at the cost of some 25 mio euro, and Ryanair has just let go of its slots for flights from Copenhagen to 23 European destinations.
Despite being offering discounted handling rates at the new pier, some airlines have aired their opinion that prices are still too high to attract attention.
In the meantime, the group behind the project for a competing, true low-cost terminal to be built at Copenhagen Airport is still holding its breath awaiting the decision by the Danish competition authority that is handling their complaint over being refused allocation of land off the current passenger aircraft terminals part of the airport.
