Sep 28, 2010 (newstodate): Montenegro's government has put a minority stake in the country's Montenegro Airlines up for sale.
The state will divest of 30 percent of the shares in the carrier in a tender now opened, and running til December 15, 2010.
The successful bidder that must have at least five years of proven business background and operate a fleet with at least 10 aircraft, will be granted managerial rights for the airline and may acquire further shares along the road.
Montenegro Airlines, based at Podgorica, operates a fleet fleet comprising eight aircraft including Embraer 195 and five Fokker 100.
Montenegro Airlines has recently declared itself interested in pooling aircraft with the Serb carrier JAT and enter a close cooperation between the two airlines aiming at optimizing capacity on existing routes, avoid redundancy of flight options, as well as create a basis for opening of new routes.
JAT might therefore very well take part in the tender for Montenegro Airlines shares, sources say.
