Sep 13, 2010 (newstodate): Lithuanian ground handling provider at Vilnius Airport, Baltic Ground Services is doing well and is planning for expansion abroad.
-Before the end of this year we will set up operations at two sites in Poland - Warsaw and Krakow, says Vitalys Dudys, Baltic Ground Services CEO.
-Plans are to offer a full service package at Warsaw, while operations in Krakow will focus on fueling services.
-Beyond that we are even planning for expansion into another new market, but we cannot reveal any details at this stage. Suffice it to say that plans are to open up here some time during 2011.
-At our home base at Vilnius, things are moving quite well and we have seen a sound development so far into 2010. We are aware of plans by a Latvian company to move into Vilnius Airport to offer handling services - but we really cannot see any basis for this.
-At this stage there are two handling companies at Vilnius Airport and this is sustained by the market. Setting up a third handling company here does not make sense as there is really not enough business to support that.
-Two handling companies at this stage are sufficient. Three is a crowd, says Mr Dudys.
