Sep 03, 2010 (newstodate): The Russian carrier Aviastar-TU has contracted Lufthansa Consulting to provide support for fulfilling the requirements of the EU ETS directive coming into effect from 2012.
Aviastar-TU operates most of its flights to the EU and is thus immediately affected by the new regulations.
The airline aims to establish a status of compliance with the EU ETS and define which actions have to be taken in order to be well prepared, in particular, for passing the verification audit at the end of this year, or beginning of 2011.
Based at Moscow, Aviastar-TU operates a fleet of TU-204 aircraft with customers including DHL, Chapman Freeborn, Skylink, as well as the military services of the USA and UK.
After an accident in March 2010, the airline is limited to cargo operations only.
