According to statistics from the Indian civil aviation authority, domestic air cargo increased by 25 percent during 2009/2010, to 691 mio metric tonnes, surpassing the budget.
India's international air cargo also increased during the period, growing 10 percent to 1.2 bio metric tonnes, but fell short of the budgeted goal of 1.3 bio tonnes.
Estimated growth rates for the next five years are 10 percent in international air cargo, and 15 percent in the first two 12 percent in the following three years from now.
