Sep 02, 2010 (newstodate): The Icelandic CAA refutes allegations that its handling of applications for AOCs is marked by delays and overly long waiting times.
The issue was brought forward in newstodate by a representative of a new Icelandic airline under formation, Proaviation that sent in its application in March 2010 - and is still in a limbo while waiting for completion of the process.
-According to procedures within the ICAA, an AOC application is to be processed within 90 days, provided that all documents from the applicant are in order and do not need additional comments from our staff nor does the ICAA have to ask for additional documents, says Valdis Asta Adalsteinsdottir, ICAA manager public relations & special projects.
-All AOC applications which are in process within the ICAA at the moment are being processed according to procedures.
-As I am not able to comment on the process of an application while we are working on it, I called the Accountable Manager for Proaviation who assured me that he has the same understanding as the ICAA regarding their AOC application.
-The processing time is normal. Proaviation has not been in a hurry, and ICAA's service has been without delays and is according to ICAA standard procedures, says Ms Adalsteinsdottir.
