Sep 08, 2010 (newstodate): Finnair is again to add capacity to its successful Indian routes.
Effective from January 6, 2011, Finnair will reportedly go up from six weekly to daily flights on the route that has been served since November 1, 2006.
The carrier added flights to Mumbai on June 26, 2007, and was considering opening a third Indian destination, Bangalore or Chennai, by the end of 2008 when the global financial crisis hit the aviation business.
Plans were also to add the seventh weekly flight between Helsinki and Delhi from September 25, 2009, but this was suspended due to the economic crisis.
Flights to Mumbai were seasonally suspended early in 2009, but were never reactivated despite plans for re-opening operations from winter 2009.
Sources claim that Finnair plans to return services to Mumbai from the coming winter schedule, but this remains unconfirmed.
