Sep 14, 2010 (newstodate): With an infusion of fresh long-haul aircraft capacity, Finnair is to up services on its Asian routes.
By the end of November, Finnair will take delivery of its seventh Airbus A330-300 aircraft, followed by delivery of the eight long-haul aircraft by January, 2011, rounding off the currently delivery schedule.
In the long-haul fleet are also five Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
With this fleet in place, Finnair will go from five to six weekly rotations between Helsinki and Osaka Kansai from January 01, 2011, from four to five rotations between Helsinki and Nagoya from January 04, 2011, from four to six rotations between Helsinki and Seoul Incheon from January 05, 2011, and from six to daily flights on the route between Helsinki and Delhi from January 08, 2011.
This rounds off Finnair's massive intake of new long-haul aircraft before the delivery from 2014 of the first of 11 Airbus A350 aircraft to replace the five Airbus A340-300 aircraft.
The fleet build-up will also benefit the carrier's already dynamically growing Asian cargo traffic, further boosted by the freighter operations to Hong Kong and Seoul with the first of two MD-11F converted aircraft.
It has yet to be announced whether Finnair Cargo will also deploy the second MD-11 aircraft that is in for conversion after finishing charter operations with the carrier by the end of this summer schedule.
