Sep 28, 2010 (newstodate): The Estonian state is to take an active part in supporting the country's aviation business sector.
In a fresh move, the state plans to support Tallinn Airport with investments in security systems, and the state will also provide funds for attracting new airlines to operate at Tallinn Airport, in both cases relieving the pressure on Tallinn Airport that has so far had to carry these costs itself.
Furthermore, funds will be allocated to the modernization of regional airports in Estonia.
Earlier in September, the state finalized negotiations with SAS over the future ownership structure of Estonian Air, whereby the Estonian state will take part in the re-capitalization of the airline ending up with 90 percent state ownership of national carrier.
