Sep 10, 2010 (newstodate): According to a source in the Estonian parliament, Estonian Air and Bombardier have now reached an agreement on the acquisition of three CRJ aircraft.
-This is actually a bit premature, but yes, I can confirm that we are close to an agreement that is, however, only a solid fact after it has been signed. We are now finalizing the last remaining technical details, says Andrus Aljas, Estonian Air CEO.
The final solution to the issue is the last remaining precondition for the Estonian state's agreement with the SAS Group concerning the latter's sale of most of its stake in the airline to the Estonian state.
After this sale the Estonian state will end up with 90 percent of the shares alongside SAS with 10 percent against its current holding of 49 percent in Estonian Air.
The conclusion of the ownership issue will provide the basis for the financial solution to the airline's acquisition of three CRJ-900 aircraft.
Estonian Air is expected to announce the signing of the contract with Bombardier in a release early next week.
