Sep 08, 2010 (newstodate): Airlines in the Baltic region are fighting a hefty battle for passengers in each-other's backyards.
Thus, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is to up frequency on its route between Tallinn, Estonia, and Stockholm Arlanda Airport, in Sweden, from the current two weekly flights to two daily rotations from November 1, 2010 - all using Fokker 50 aircraft.
But on the other side of the fence, the Estonian carrier Estonian Air is to return direct daily air traffic between Vilnius, in Lithuania, and Stockholm Arlanda from October 30, 2010, using Boeing 737-500 aircraft.
The route has been un-served since July this year when Skyways pulled out from its daily Fokker 50 services.
