Sep 07, 2010 (newstodate): Cooperation may be the away ahead for the airlines in the Balkan region.
The aircraft pooling agreement between Serbia's JAT Airways and Montenegro Airlines has now been confirmed, and the two parties stress that the pool will be open for other Balkan carriers to join, with Slovenia's Adria Airways and Croatian Croatia Airlines as examples.
JAT's 14 and Montenegro Airlines' eight aircraft will form a joint fleet of 10 Boeing 737-300, four ATR 72, three Embraer 195 and five Fokker 100, with two JAT Airways Boeing 737-700 and one more Montenegro Airlines Embraer 195 soon to be added.
With the aircraft pooling, participants can optimize capacity on existing routes, avoid redundancy of flight options, as well as create basis for opening of new routes.
