Sep 17, 2010 (newstodate): One thing stands out as a fact: Air India is leaving Frankfurt Airport as its European hub since since March 29, 2009.
Effective from the termination of this summer's schedule by the end of October 2010, Air India will no longer connect its flights to Frankfurt from Ahmedabad, Delhi and Mumbai to its trans-Atlantic flights from Frankfurt to New York and Chicago.
Only the daily direct flights between Delhi and Frankfurt will remain on the carrier's time table from the winter schedule.
What still remains to be seen if whether Air India will select a European alternative for a hub between India and the USA - or if it will rather go for only direct flights from Delhi, capitalizing on the facilities provided by the the new T3 terminal at Delhi Indira Gandhi Airport.
If the carrier will go for a new European hub, the airport of Copenhagen, Dublin and Birmingham have reportedly been short-listed as viable options.
