Sep 14, 2010 (newstodate): The Latvian ground handling provider North Hub Services has now set April 2011 for its entry into the Swedish market.
North Hub Services will provide the full basket of ground handling services to its customers right at the start, and the provider hints that "more than one launch customer" will be behind its operations from the start.
-We consider Stockholm to be part of our home market. North Hub Services has long-term strategic plans at the impressively developing Arlanda airport that cannot be ignored by a player like NHS, with our prevailing aim to become a leading ground handling operator in Northern Europe before 2013, says Janis Balkens, NHS CEO.
-We acknowledge the reality of facing such respectable competitors like SAS Ground Services, Nordic Aero and Menzies in Stockholm, but that only makes the professional challenge even more appealing. Networking agreements for our clients flying to Riga, Stockholm, Helsinki and Tallinn in 2011 will constitute a competitive edge for us, says Mr Balkens.
The new handling provider is welcomed by Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
-There are currently five handling providers at the airport, two of which are dedicated to general aviation and a US carrier, respectively, leaving three handling providers, SGS, Nordic Aero and Menzies Aviation to compete with NHS. This will of course intensify the already strong competition in the market, but it is up to the companies to meet the challenges, says Roy Trulsson, Swedavia Account Manager and responsible for Ground Handling issues..
