Aug 19, 2010 (newstodate): Even the airspace is heating up again between Russia and Georgia this summer.
The Russian carrier S7 Airlines and the Georgian carrier Georgian Airways have obtained permits by the CAAs of the two countries to operate three weekly flights between Moscow and Tbilisi on different week-days.
When the airspace is fully re-opened, the Russian carrier has plans to add flights from Moscow to Batumi and Kutaisi as well.
Suspended since October, 2006, after the military conflict between Russia and Georgia, air traffic between Russia and Georgia was partially resumed from March 25, 2008, only to be halted soon afterwards.
Since then, only limited seasonal air services have been permitted.
