Aug 16, 2010 (newstodate): Uzbekistan has now commissioned the new air cargo terminal at the country's Navoi Airport.
The new terminal has an annual capacity of handling up to 100,000 tonnes and provides a vital element in the plan to set up an international logistics center at Navoi as contained in the MoU between Uzbekistan Airways and Korean Air, signed in February 2008.
The airport is currently handling 12 weekly flights by Korean Air Cargo on the routes Incheon-Navoi-Milan, Incheon-Navoi-Brussels, and Shanghai-Navoi-Milan.
At Navoi, shipments are transferred between Korean and Uzbekistan Airways that operates 11 weekly flights with Airbus A300-600F on routes including Navoi-Delhi-Navoi, Navoi-Mumbai-Navoi, Navoi-Bangkok-Navoi, and Navoi- Frankfurt-Navoi.
