Aug 11, 2010 (newstodate): Ukraine's National company for Air traffic Control has signed two contracts with SELEX Sistemi Integrati, a Finmeccanica company.
The first contract covers systems upgrading at the Kiev Airport, the Ukrainian main hub, and the second contract signed through SELEX' German subsidiary SELEX Systems Integration GmbH, comprises the implementation of three meteorological Meteor radars (for the regions of Lvov, Kharkov and Simferopol.
At Kiev, Selex will upgrade and increase the hardware and software performances of the Strela ATC centre, which performs en route and approach air traffic control.
Both projects will be in place well ahead of the forthcoming 2012 European Football Championship to be held in Ukraine.
