Aug 23, 2010 (newstodate): Lithuania's Vilnius Airport is booming in cargo volumes, experiencing a growth by 23.5 percent, y-o-y, in July.
Behind the massive increase in cargo shipments are basically only two companies - the Latvian carrier airBaltic and the privately owned Lithuanian company, Aviavilsa that operates for DHL Express.
Ranking highest in cargo volumes at Vilnius Airport is airBaltic that accounted for 32.5 percent in January-July 2010, with 942 tonnes.
Second on the list is Aviavilsa with 29.6 percent of the volumes, totaling 860 tonnes.
As the only other carrier with a two-digit stake in cargo volumes at Vilnius Airport came Lufthansa, accounting for 11 percent, or 324 tonnes in January-July 2010.
