Aug 27, 2010 (newstodate): Yesterday's two relief flights from Sweden's Orebro Airport again proved the airport's efficiency in handling urgent calls.
-In this case we were notified only the evening before the actual flights, and very often response times are that short, says Hakan Nilsson, Oerebro Airport cargo manager.
-Under daily circumstances, Orebro Airport has only a small cargo handling staff but we can call in experienced extra hands at short notice to handle special assignments, and we are fully capable of handling cargo on all types of aircraft. Flexibility is a key parameter for us.
-Another asset of the airport is its proximity to the central relief supplies warehouse at Kristinehamn that facilitates smooth and fast logistics operations at the airport.
-As of now we have no bookings for further relief operations to Pakistan - but this can change any moment, says Mr Nilsson.
So far into 2010 Orebro Airport has handled more than 100 export cargo charter flights.
