Aug 16, 2010 (newstodate): Sweden's Orebro Airport is seeing a recovery in the volume of cargo charter operations, while volumes of trucked air cargo are going down.
-So far into 2010 we have handled about 100 freighter operations, which is an increase compared to last year, says Hakan Nilsson, Orebro Airport cargo manager.
-The operations are partly commercial, partly military and especially this latter segment has seen a positive development, and included in the total volume are also relief flights as the IL-76 flight from Orebro to Pakistan this weekend.
-The decline in trucked cargo is mainly reflecting a decreasing activity by Ericsson that earlier provided the bulk of the traffic.
-As the situation is now, my estimate is that we will probably land close to last year's total of 20,000 tonnes through Orebro Airport, but with the changed proportions between flown and trucked cargo, says Mr Nilsson.
