Aug 11, 2010 (newstodate): Serb dreams of privatization of the national state-owned carrier JAT seem undaunted by earlier tender failures to attract investors.
A Serb media, Blic, now claims that the Serb government has abandoned the idea of setting up a new carrier to take over the JAT assets, including aircraft and crews, while leaving the debts in the old carrier to be shouldered by the state.
Instead, plans are reportedly maturing for opening yet another tender to attract investors among other airlines.
The latest aborted attempt was made in 2008 when a tender was opened. Several carrier including Aeroflot and Turkish Airlines aired their interest - but failed to bid in the last round.
