Aug 03, 2010 (newstodate): Scandinavia's second-largest airline, Norwegian has decided to grow its already large fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft.
The carrier has signed a contract with Boeing for delivery of a further 15 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, exercising its purchase rights contained in the contract signed in 2007 for delivery of 42 Boeing 737-800 as well as options for a further 42 units.
The contract in 2007 was the also the largest-ever aircraft order from any Scandinavian carrier.
Today, Norwegian operates a fleet comprising 24 Boeing 737-800 aircraft, with orders for a total of 59 more as well as holding 27 options.
In the Norwegian fleet are also 28 Boeing 737-300 aircraft, to be phased out successively as new aircraft arrive.
