Aug 19, 21010 (newstodate): The battle to launch a new Norwegian carrier North Express, earlier named Norwegian Express, may not be over yet.
According to latest reports, the project group, headed by Gote Aspen, has still not given up hopes to find investors to back the plans.
In the meantime the projected carrier lost its rights to an ATR 42-500 aircraft in early August as it proved unable to secure the last remaining NOK 4.8 mio investors.
If North Express should now succeed in securing the necessary funding, the hunt will be on for another aircraft in the currently rather heated leasing market.
Plans were to set up a route network from August 2010 connecting destinations in Northern Norway with a fleet of ATR42-500, delivered on a leasing contract, and cockpit and aircraft crews had already been secured.
