During the first half of this year, the airport handled a total of 1,888 tonnes of cargo - an increase by 150.3 percent, y-o-y.
The airport has seen volumes rising steeply all through the year, with June 2010 topping at 494 tonnes of cargo - an increase by 403 percent, y-o-y.
Behind the success is the Lithuanian logistics company, Hoptrans with own companies in China and Russia that manage huge flows of ex-China exports for the Russian market via Kaunas on freighters chartered by Hoptrans.
