Aug 16, 2010 (newstodate): After only three months of services, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is reportedly to withdraw from Serbia.
As the first direct non-stop service between the Baltic region and Serbia, the route between Riga and Belgrade was launched by airBaltic from May 5, 2010 with three weekly rotations using Boeing 737 aircraft.
Despite promising loads on the route that has grown to four weekly flights, airBaltic's lack of aircraft to cover its greatly expanded route network is leading the carrier to suspend services from September 12, 2010, for an unspecified period, according to industry sources.
