Aug 04, 2010 (newstodate): The Icelandic charter carrier Primera Air is facing strong headwinds in the aftermath of the demise of a Swedish tour operator leaving passengers stranded in Iraq and Lebanon.
Primera Air was operating flights for Flyhome that went bankrupt and the carrier has so far refused to fly out to get the passengers back.
Both the Swedish and the Danish civil aviation authorities have urged the carrier to bring back the stranded passengers, while Primera Air and the bankrupt tour agency blame each other for failing to resolve the problem.
The situation has been further complicated by the fact that Flyhome has pulled all plugs and stopped communicating with the outside world altogether.
