Aug 05, 2010 (newstodate): Russia's first new commercial aircraft since the fall of the Soviet Union, the Superjet 100 is now gaining benevolent tailwinds.
The latest new order on the international scene comes from the Indonesian carrier Kartika Airlines that has confirmed its order, placed in 2008, to take 30 Superjet 100 aircraft for delivery starting from 2012.
Before that, the US leasing company Pearl Aircraft Corporation placed a firm order for 30 units as well as an option for a further 15 aircraft at the recent Farnborough Air Show.
Orient Thai Airlines has also firmed up its order for delivery of 24 Superjet 100 aircraft, with deliveries slated to begin by Q3/2011.
The order book for the Superjet 100 now stands at 131.
