Aug 10, 2010 (newstodate): The Faroe Islands' carrier Atlantic Airways is now realizing its plans to divest itself of two BAE 146-200 aircraft.
One aircraft is being sold to a subsidiary of the Canadian based Tronos Group, but Atlantic Airways will lease back this aircraft to support operations during next year's summer season.
The second aircraft will go to Chilean carrier DAP in October 2010 on a lease/purchase agreement.
After the sale transactions, Atlantic Airways will operate three BAE Avro RJ aircraft and one remaining BAE 146, as well as three rotary-wing aircraft.
The carrier expects to take delivery of one Airbus A319 aircraft by Q1, 2012, when runway expansion works and construction of a new passenger terminal at Vagar Airport have been completed.
