According to Eurostat, Lithuania came came out the worst of all European countries in annual passenger decline with a drop by 26.8 percent, y-o-y, followed by Estonia where passenger volumes fell by 25.7 percent.
Third on the negative list was Slovakia where volumes were down 25 percent, y-o-y.
In sharp contrast to this, Latvia emerged as the only EU member state where the volume of air passengers actually increased in 2009, recording a growth by 10.2 percent over the preceding year.
